Yoga

photoashtangaYoga promotes a balance of flexibility and strength, injury resistance, stress relief, and healing. Yet the beneficial elements of yoga that enhance and go beyond the physical are attributed to the mind/body connection through various stages of awareness (i.e. control of functions such as movement, focus, and breath).

Yoga is renowned for its ability to strengthen while rapidly mobilizing the entire body. You will feel more alive as you gain true awareness of the state of your body and mind while your body transforms into it’s healthiest and most efficient state. We recommend yoga for those who desire to develop athleticism, vitality, and balance through self reflection and a commitment to holistic health.

At The Integrative Athlete, our teachers offer classes specialized in Ashtanga Yoga.  Ashtanga Yoga is a series of poses that will both strengthen and open the body.  The series of poses consist of sun salutations, standing poses, seated poses, back bends, and inversions.  Ashtanga is suitable for all levels and is a stand alone system and/or complementary to our other programs. This systematic approach will help the practitioner see his/her progression and will be something that they will be able to take with them no matter where they go.
